Neurology and Neurosurgery School

The purpose of the Neurology and Neurosurgery School is to provide modern and internationally recognized knowledge and skills for practitioners in the area of neurology and neurosurgery.

The main objectives of the course are the development of the neurological medical care system in Russia, and professional development of physicians, neurologists, as well as the development of Russian neurosurgical school.

The main areas of study of Neurology and Neurosurgery School:

  • study of modern classifications of neurological disorders and their applicability in practice;
  • development of knowledge in the area of neurology, neurosurgery;
  • communication with foreign specialists, exchange of experience;
  • workshops «live surgery». This is a unique opportunity to see how the leading Russian and international neurosurgeons operate – livestream from the operating room.

The main goal of the course is to improve the quality of clinical practice through organization of lectures and workshops, analysis of clinical cases and master classes, live-surgeries with experts from Russia and Western Europe.

In addition, the Neurology and Neurosurgery School participates in seminars of other EMC Schools as part of an interdisciplinary approach to education.

Head of the Neurology Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery School is Vitaliy Akimov – neurologist, neuroscientist, PhD.

Head of the Neurosurgery Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery School is Alexey Krivoshapkin – professor, neurosurgeon, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MD.

The target audience of the Neurology and Neurosurgery School is practitioners – neurologists, neurosurgeons, epileptologists, vertebrologists, otoneurologists and other related specialists.
