Effective communication skills training for health-care professionals

Under the aegis of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and the Psychiatry Department at the European Medical Center (GEMC) and on the initiative of the International Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education we have successfully started a REGULAR TRAINING ON PSYCHO-ONCOLOGY & CL PSYCHIATRY in Moscow, Russia.

The overall purpose and goal of this Training is to provide the bases of liaison psychiatry and psycho-social oncology throughout all phases of illness: the liaison approach, psychosocial aspects of cancer patients at different phases of cancer illness and survivorship, assessment and management of psychiatric syndromes associated with cancer and its treatment, including late effects of cancer treatment, promotion of treatment adherence and the development of the psycho-oncological and CL psychiatry services model.

One specific objective of the workshop will be a focus on communication skills training for different specialists managing patients. Special attention will be paid to the issue of the professional communication of these specialists with patients and their families and their ability to teach these skills to other clinicians in their clinical settings. Our target audience are psychiatrists, psychologists and physicians.
